The library’s (Links to an external site.) Start My Research search tool is a great way to locate a wide array of information. Just enter your search terms and click “search”.

Once you’re looking at search results, you can do a number of things to limit your results. For instance, near the top of the page on the left-hand side, you can limit your results by what kind of information you want to look at. You can limit to scholarly materials, journals, magazines, books and ebooks, etc.

A little further down on the left, notice options to limit by date and discipline (that is, scholarly perspective: are you interested in materials written by/for scholars of English? Sociology? Physics?).

As you search, there are a few ways to keep track of articles you’ve found. Hover over the symbols to the right of each article to see how to permanently link to, cite, or email an article.

You may also be interested in browsing materials specifically collected for your major. In that case, you’d want to check out our research guides. Starting from the library homepage again, click “Research Guides” below the Start My Research search box. There, you’ll be able to browse guides geared toward a large variety of disciplines.
